Reborn Again is a collection of digitally-rendered pieces that explore movement, contortion and growth. For Jessica Peri Chalmers, domestic life becomes a site for spiritual transformation as her subjects stretch in relief, dance with joy, and gaze in contemplation.
Jessica Peri Chalmers is an artist, writer and theater director. She has been “reborn again” more than once. Originally from NYC, she started her art life as a performance artist, writing and appearing with The V-Girls, a mock-academic group, between 1986-96. She moved to the Midwest to be an actual academic, teaching in the theater department at the University of Notre Dame from 1999 to 2008. In 2012 she moved to Chicago, was a visiting artist at Columbia College the next year, and started making visual art as part of the sets she created for a performance she wrote for Rhinofest at Prop Theater. In addition to writing plays, she has published fiction and essays. For a full bio please visit: http://jessicaperichalmers.tumblr.com/
