The Parlor Lecture Series

"Death is not an experience in one's life." -Wittgenstein

More recently in Western civilization, death has been seen as a terminus. However, historically death has been seen as more of a transition. This more positive attitude towards death makes it possible for the dead to continue to have an important and meaningful cultural and spiritual role in their communities, thereby making death much less harrowing for the living.

In the debut of The Parlor lecture series, we will explore the notion of death as not just as an end but a transition and new beginning.

Our current speakers include:

Certified Death Midwife and Director/Founder of The Parlor Emerita Colon and Illinois Obscura Society Field Agent and Mummy Aficionado Katy Kaspari.

We only ask that you come with an open mind, an abundance of curiosity, and all of your most nitty-gritty, graphic death questions (both related to the theme and something you've been eager to ask for ages). There are no dumb or "too weird" mortality questions at The Parlor.
