One of 1000 copies printed. This is a tremendously curious book privately printed for individuals interested in reading both technical minutiae of industrial iron fabrication and humorous anecdotes about hunting dogs. This book traces the history of the Koppers Company, Bartlett Hayward Division, from simple stove manufacturers to what is today one of the largest global chemical and materials companies in the world. The company's founders were quite taken with duck hunting and with their Chesapeake Bay retrievers, Sailor and Canton, who became symbols of the company and who were memorialized by two enormous statues that existed for decades outside the Koppers headquarters. Stories of Sailor and Canton and memorable hunts are interspersed with the schematics and technical aspects of Koppers inventions, and the final chapter even includes recipes for preparing duck and terrapin. Near fine. Item #1118
