Vol. I front hinge is split but holding, attached mostly at 4th hub and endpapers. Rear hinge of Vol. II beginning to split at extremities. Very minor scuffing around edges. Attractive bookplate "Birchwood" pasted inside front covers of both volumes. Very light foxing throughout. Tight and clean.
This is a scarce set of first editions of Lord Nelson's biography by the great Robert Southey. It is the 2nd issue of the 1st edition (no misprinted page number in vol. 2), and with the exception of the weak hinge on volume one, in very admirable condition. Good +. Item #1496
