The Pilgrim's Progress in the Nineteenth Century. William R. WEEKS, BUNYANUS.

The Pilgrim's Progress in the Nineteenth Century

New York: M.W. Dodd, 1848. First Edition. Leather bound. 8vo. Contemporary full calf with blind-tooled decoration. 534 pp.
Scuffing to leather. Corners bumped. Some splitting to leather at hinge, though binding is unaffected. Foxing throughout.
This is a first edition of Hopkinsian theologian Weeks' influential treatise on the importance of revivals in American Christianity. The first several chapters of this were previously published in evangelical magazines under the pseudonym "Bunyanus," and indeed the book is written in a style imitating Bunyan's classic work. Weeks passed away before the full text was published. Very good. Item #1588
