This is a profusely illustrated first edition history of the American West by journalist Drake. Drake wrote a series of such books ("The Making of the Ohio Valley States;" "The Making of Virginia;" etc.) for the layman which framed a complex history in accurate, readable language. A well-regarded classic of Americana in its original state. Very good. Item #1639
