This is a profusely illustrated first edition history of the Ohio Valley states (modern day Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois) by American journalist Drake. Drake wrote a series of such books ("The Making of the Great West;" "The Making of Virginia;" etc.) for the layman which framed a complex history in accurate, readable language. A well-regarded classic of Americana in its original state. Very good. Item #1640
