This is a rare first edition, second issue of Walton's (1593-1683) biography of Welsh-English poet George Herbert (1593-1633). Walton is best known for his Compleat Angler and collection of four literary biographies, of which this was the fourth. This biography of Herbert was released the same year as the more common compendium of all four, called Walton's Lives. This issue of Life of Herbert, published separately from the collected Lives, is particularly uncommon. (Pforzheimer 1055). Item #2756
