1978. Paperback. Scuffed edges and bent front and back covers. Small dark stain on front cover. Pages are bright and clean. Spine is uncracked. If this copy has been read, it shows no signs of it. Cover wear and tear is from sitting in a box in a basement for 30 years, according to previous owner.
Here is one of the rarest books in music ephemera, the DEVO devotee's holy grail. Written by Mark Mothersbaugh in the voice of Booji Boy, the band's mascot, this satire of Hitler's Mein Kampf and Chairman Mao's Little Red Book is the famously eccentric band's statement of purpose. Filled with collages, illustrations, and mimeographed nonsense, this is a satirical, provocative novelty that has become, over the years, one of the most sought after collectors' items in music memorabilia. PDF scans of My Struggle have disseminated online for those interested in its contents, but an actual physical edition such as this one goes up for sale perhaps once or twice in a decade. Good.
