This is a pair of scarce books for children about the Kon-Tiki expedition written by members of the expedition. In 1947, Norwegian explorer Heyerdahl and a small crew piloted a primitive raft called the Kon-Tiki across the Pacific Ocean to prove that ancient people could have made long distance journeys using the technology available at the time. This copy of Heyerdahl's book is a lushly illustrated adaptation of his bestselling account of their journey, signed by Heyerdahl. Most of the illustrations are based on photos from the expedition. We are additionally including in this lot another children's book, Kon-Tiki and I, written and illustrated by Heyerdahl's navigator, Erik Hesselberg. These two vintage, family-friendly companion volumes provide different perspectives on one of the great true adventure stories of the 20th century. Item #905
