Girard: Haldeman-Julius Company, 1944. Pamphlet. 8vo. 8.5"x5.5" Staple-bound wraps. 44 pp. plus advertisements.
Several chips with loss around fold. Wraps somewhat brittle. Tight and clean.
This is a condensed reprint of Reade's 1872 philosophical treatise. Though the wraps are colored white, this is considered to be part of Emanuel Haldeman-Julius' "Big Blue Book" series, an offshoot of his more recognized "Little Blue Books." Haldeman-Julius was a prolific socialist publisher, editor, author, and social reformer, best known for his series of inexpensive paperbacks covering intellectual subjects like literature, politics, religion, fine arts, history, and more. There were 2300 unique titles in the series and most are very collectible. Very good. Item #962
