A nearly complete archive of fanzines and newsletters by Richard E. Geis, plus autograph letters

Portland, OR. A treasure trove for collectors of zines or vintage science fiction.
This is a collection of 191 individual fanzines and newsletters by Richard E. Geis (1927-2013; sometimes styled "REG"), the prolific American science fiction and erotica fan and author. Geis won the Hugo for best fan writer 7 times and the Hugo for best fanzine (Alien Critic/Science Fiction Review) 6 times. Geis was also the author of 114 books, which he claimed "110 of them soft-core porn."
This archive contains a nearly complete collection of Geis' science fiction fanzines, conspiracy newsletters, and personal journals. Also included are a pair of signed letters from Geis and other ephemera related to the publications. All items are in very good condition (though creases are common) and were collected by a single subscriber.

(Note that Geis frequently changed the titles of his pubications mid-run and sometimes restarted the numbering. As there is no full bibliography of Geis' works, this bookseller has done his best to separate the distinct series and put them in chronological order. Partial bibliographies of Geis' fan writings can be found on the Internet Speculative Fiction Database and Fancyclopedia 3.)

This lot contains the following:

2 handwritten letters to Geis from this collection's previous owner, with Geis' typed and signed responses.

53 issues:
The Alien Critic #8-10 (1974)
Science Fiction Review #12-61 (1975-1986, end of publication).
Staple-bound wraps, typewritten letter-sized pages. Geis' most celebrated publication, for which he won all those Hugos. Science fiction and fantasy book reviews, plus interviews and columns from the titans of the genre, including Le Guin, Vonnegut, Ellison, Lem, Wolfe, Dick, Bradbury, Card, George R.R. Martin, and hundreds more. This collections lacks only issues #1-7 and #11. Geis "retired" this publication in 1986 due to his arthritis, but would soon return.

10 issues (complete series):
Science Fiction Review #1-10 (1990-1992, end of publication)
Glossy wraps, letter-sized. Relaunched with Geis as a contributing editor rather than the sole author. Only ran for 10 issues. Also included is a printed press release for the relaunched SFR.

7 issues (complete series):
Conspiracy Newsletter #1-7 (1981, end of publication)
Staple-bound, typewritten letter-sized pages. Subtitled "The News Behind the News," this short-lived publication offered thoughts on various conspiracies and included exclusive reports from alleged insiders.

40 issues (complete series):
Controversy In Review #15-17 (1987, end of publication)
Typewritten letter-sized pages. Most issues are stapled pages, but a few have stapled wraps. Covers non-fiction book reviews, opinions, and politics.

2 issues:
Richard E. Geis -- A Journal of Opinion and Speculation #18-19 (1988)
Staple-bound, typewritten letter-sized pages. Confusingly titled, this is a separate publication Geis wrote for FAPA (Fantasy Amateur Press Association). Though similar in tone, it is not part of the *other* series titled "Richard E. Geis."

77 issues (complete series):
The Geis Letter #1-6 (1990)
The Geis Letter #1-71 (1992-2000, numbering restarted, end of publication)
