Your neighborhood bookstore
We won the Chicago Reader’s Best New Bookstore award in 2012 and have been featured in the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, and on the Netflix series Easy.
Our storefront is a cross between a Victorian art collector’s brownstone and an underground punk venue, once described by Travel Magazine as “charmingly ramshackle.” We like to think of our store as cozy, inviting, and endlessly explorable.
The physical space is only one reason to visit us in person. We have a constantly rotating inventory of over 30,000 hand-picked used titles as well as a large selection of local books and zines that we sell on consignment. We sell locally made crafts, candles, and upcycled book art. We have events nearly every night of the week. And, of course, Ramona the husky is here to greet customers on most days.
Our online store contains highlights from our collection of rare, antique, and unusual books.
