Detained; 283 days in Jamaica's detention camp, struggling for freedom, justice and human rights! [FIRST EDITION]

Kingston, Jamaica: Kingston Publishers Limited, 1977. First Edition. 8vo. Red faux leather with gilt text. Dust jacket. 207 pp.
Association copy. Signed by the author to Cecil Charlton, former mayor of Mandeville, Jamaica. Book is signed multiple times with different pens, and there are scribbles on the front free endpaper. Seems to indicate that the author tested out several pens on this page before signing. Shelf wear to jacket edges, with multiple chips and closed tears.
This is an uncommon memoir of Mr. Charles' illegal detention at a Jamaican prison camp. Charles is an activist politician who would later go on to serve as Minister of Labour and Speaker of Jamaica's House of Representatives. From a larger collection of books belonging to the late Mr. Charlton. Very good / good. Item #2527
